What is Physie?

Physical culture is a form of dance that integrates many different skills and types of dance, these include: basic ballet technique, yoga, pilates and hints of jazz. ‘Physie’ is a sport for all ages and abilities with routines that are adapted to your age that will enhance your skills for the next age group. Physie is made up of several routines including a march to start off with, followed by an introduction routine, then a relaxed, then exercises, followed by floor drill and lastly a dance for juniors and seniors, instead of dance a rhythm for ladies.

Routines:

  • Introduction: Intro is a warm up routine that warms up the body for the rest of the routines.
  • Relaxed: Relaxed is a contemporary style of dance that is made up of slow soft movements that show off basic ballet technique.
  • Exercises: Exercises is a routine that shows off strength, balance and coordination.
  • Floor Drill: Floor Drill is a display of flexibility mostly conducted on the floor with displays of yoga and pilates positions.
  • Dance: Dance is an upbeat routine to finish off which creates a fun aspect to the routine with hints of jazz or hip hop.
  • Rhythm: Rhythm is a more upbeat relaxed for the Ladies group but not as intense as a dance or introduction.
